a PPLE-USP symposium
26 May 2023
The first speaker, Jetske Bouma from the Environmental Assessment Agency, shared how the Agency’s primary focus has shifted from scenario analysis and policy simulation to behavioural and societal change in their assessment of environmental issues.
Margaretha Wewerinke-Singh, associate professor in Sustainability Law at UvA, next shared her experience and thoughts on human rights litigation for climate justice. Followed by Cameron Brick, assistant professor in Social Psychology at UvA, who presented his insights on how to best encourage and measure conservation behaviour.
Pauline Westendorp from citizens energy transition network 02025 then shared her experience on how to set citizens in motion and bring about grassroot change. And to conclude, Christopher Julien, PhD candidate at Utrecht University and member of Extinction Rebellion, explained how pluralistic ignorance paralyses us to take climate action and what we can do to get ourselves and others moving again.
All in all, it was a very insightful afternoon and we are hoping to see you at the next PPLE symposium in 2024!
